General FAQ

CANCELLATION/NO SHOW POLICY/LATE ARRIVAL:

We require a 24 hour notice for cancellations or changes to appointments.  Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time and clients on our waiting list miss the opportunity to receive services.  A no call/no show or appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time will result in a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the service price.  If we are able to reschedule you same day, with the same Stylist, a cancellation fee will not be charged.

We do not extend service times or reduce charges for late arrivals.  Late arrivals (arriving 10 minutes or more past the appointment start time) are subject to cancellation and will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the service price.  Your Stylist reserves the right to modify your appointment if you are late.

CHILDREN POLICY

Please arrange for childcare for children under the age of 12. For safety reasons and insurance purposes, no children under the age of 12 may accompany you while you are having a service. While we love children, there is no one available to supervise your children (especially since your eyes will be closed the entire appointment) and those left unattended in the waiting area or treatment room pose a safety concern. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

ALLERGIES & REACTIONS

Please be sure to always know what ingredients you may be allergic or sensitive to before coming in for a service. If you have experienced a reaction or sensitivity to a lash adhesive in the past, please let us know so that we can do a complimentary patch test prior to your scheduled service. While allergic reactions to lash adhesives are not common, they can happen and potentially can develop over time. We do take steps to minimize reactions, although are not able to fully take away the risk of them occurring.

PREGNANT

As with any beauty service, pregnant or breastfeeding women should speak with a physician before receiving a lash service. Products do not touch the skin, however, if a reaction or sensitivity was to occur during or following the service, pregnant women may not be permitted to treat it with antihistamines or other medications. Pregnancy has also been known to affect the growth rate, and texture of hair and eyelashes, so pregnant clients may experience less lift or retention than usual.

If you choose to have a lash service done while pregnant, please be aware you will be laying down for an extended period of time. We do provide and offer pillows to support your back and make you as comfortable as possible.

Lash Extensions

INITIAL FULL SET

Applying the initial full set of lash extensions can take anywhere from 2 to 3.5 hours, depending on the lash extension used (synthetic, mink, or volume), with the average full set taking 2.5 hours. The time varies depending on the amount of coverage, the level of experience of your lash technician, along with the health of your natural lashes. The initial full set will include a consultation, where the Stylist will take into account your face shape, eye shape, eye placement, and brow arch to create a customized look with the lash extensions. Please note, not all full sets will look the same as the end result is dependent upon your natural lashes. The state/amount of your natural lashes will determine the length, fullness, and thickness in terms of the look your lash stylist can provide. If you are unsure of which New Full Set to book for your first appointment, please book the Blended New Full Set, our most popular service. At the time of your consultation, the set can be adjusted should your Stylist feel you would benefit from a different set.

MAINTENANCE FILLS

Lash extensions are semi-permanent and will last for as long as you maintain them. To maintain the lash extensions and look, fills are necessary every 2-3 weeks, dependent upon your lash cycle. Natural lashes fall out in cycles, replenishing themselves every 60-90 days. It is common to lose anywhere from 2 to 4 lashes per day. As each natural lash sheds, so does the extension that is placed on it. When one natural lash sheds, it is replaced with a new natural lash, which then is ready for an extension.

TRANSFER FILLS

If you are coming to Mōv Aesthetics with lashes on from another studio, you must book a 90 Minute Transfer as your first initial appointment.

We always do our best to work over another studio’s work, although techniques and products vary greatly from studio to studio, and working over someone else’s work is not always possible or guaranteed.  If lashes are not properly isolated, extensions applied are too heavy/long for your natural lashes, or there is too much adhesive, we will need to do a removal and apply a full set. We value natural lash health and will not work over any work that is potentially causing or has already caused damage to your natural lashes and follicle health.

PRE APPOINTMENT CARE

Please come to your appointment without wearing any eye makeup (no mascara, eyeliner or shadow). If you normally wear contacts, bring your contact case and glasses, as you will need to remove the contacts prior to your appointment. We recommend to bring in your own headphones and phone to listen to a podcast, music, or audible book during your lash service. Listening to music or a podcast is a great way to relax, unwind, and enjoy the time to yourself! For your first appointment, please arrive 5 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork.

POST APPOINTMENT CARE

There is very minimal aftercare needed for lash extensions, although the aftercare required is key to prolonging the retention of your lash extensions.

  • Following your full set or fill, please avoid getting your lashes wet for 5 hours
  • Avoid excessive exposure to steam and heat for the first 24 to 48 hours to allow adequate adhesive bonding
  • Each morning, gently brush your lashes from the middle to the ends with a dry mascara wand
  • Twice a week, cleanse your lashes with an approved foaming lash cleanser and brush to remove/prevent buildup and residue
  • Most people have lash extensions to replace the need to wear mascara, although if you need to wear mascara, you must use one that is specially formulated for lash extensions. Use sparingly and only apply to the tips of the lashes
  • DO NOT apply any mascara to volume lash extensions, as doing so will cause the volume fans to close
  • Avoid all oil based makeup and products around the eye area, lash curlers, and any eyeliner pencils. If you wish to wear eyeliner, please use a shadow eyeliner

YUMI Lash Lift & Tint

It is recommended to wait a minimum of 6 weeks in between Lash Lifts. The results are all dependant upon your natural lashes. The longer your natural lashes are, the more dramatic and curled your lashes will appear after the service.

PRE TREATMENT CARE

Please come to your appointment without wearing any eye makeup (no mascara, eyeliner or shadow). If you normally wear contacts, bring your contact case and glasses, as you will need to remove the contacts prior to your appointment. For best results, do not use waterproof mascara or curl your lashes 5 days prior to your appointment. Remove any eye makeup with oil free makeup remover the day prior and refrain from wearing makeup the day of your appointment. It is recommended to wash your hair prior to your appointment because you cannot get your lashes wet for 48 hours following the service.

POST TREATMENT CARE

Keep your lashes completely dry and avoid touching them for at least 24 hours. This will ensure that your newly lifted and tinted lashes will keep their shape and color. Avoid swimming, crying, or washing/showering close to your eye area. If possible, also avoid eye makeup as you’ll have to use remover to get it off at the end of the day.

Although it’s tempting to brush out your lashes the first day, please wait. Once you’ve passed your initial 24 hours, you can wash and brush your lashes as often as your like. The ‘spiky’ look will become more fluffy and natural, and at this time, it’s perfectly fine to apply mascara.

Wax Services

Please disclose if you are using any of the following medications, as they can create more sensitivity and interfere with the waxing process: Accutane, Differin, Retin-A. You must be off Accutane for a minimum of six months prior to waxing any part of your body.

PRE TREATMENT CARE

Hair must be at least 1/4” in length or as long as a grain of rice to obtain the best results - usually two weeks of not shaving. Please avoid tanning beds 24-48 hours prior to your appointment, along with exfoliating the day of your appointment. The day of your appointment, please arrive to the studio with clean skin, free from heavy lotions or oils.

POST TREATMENT CARE

For the first 48 hours post wax, avoid tanning beds or direct sun to the freshly waxed area. Exfoliating daily can help prevent ingrown hairs. Some individuals are more sensitive than others and may experience some redness, bumps, and minor swelling. These reactions usually disappear within a day or two. If you are concerned at any point, please let us know as soon as possible.
