Reducing Imperfections
There is no need to prepare anything before treatment. Still, it is advised to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Dress comfortably, so we can easily access the areas to be treated. The treated area will be cleaned and numbed with topical numbing cream.
When the topical anesthesia has kicked in, our provider will apply the microneedling device to the area and begin treatment. Appointments last approximately an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. To maintain the lasting effects of the treatment, we advise a set of 3-4 treatments initially every six weeks and then additional treatments throughout the year as needed. Some treatments will include PRP/PRF, in which case a blood sample will be taken to withdraw your natural growth factors. This formulation will then be applied to the treated area after your Boulder microneedling treatment has been performed to enhance its results and aid in the healing process.
Your Self-Care
During the procedure, you may bleed and experience redness. You may wish to plan a day or two of downtime until the redness reduces. The redness usually fades completely within five days of treatment. Avoid sun exposure for 48 hours. Spend the next seven days avoiding intense exercise and hot environments.
Microneedling is safe for expectant mothers, but PRP/PRF cannot be added while pregnant.
Most people report minimal pain during the procedure due to the prescription-strength topical numbing cream.
Scarring, infection, or bruising at the injection sites are rare occurrences.
